Junior QA Engineer
Junior QA Engineer at FirstVet — a role built to grow with you. Start with hands-on testing across our product teams, grow into driving our QA strategy. Real ownership, Stockholm or remote.
About FirstVet
FirstVet is the first truly digital veterinary clinic. We let pet owners meet with licensed veterinarians via their mobile or computer — and we don't stop there. We've expanded to include an e-commerce platform, offering a comprehensive solution for pet owners across 7 markets in Europe and North America. Our mission is simple: to make quality veterinary care accessible to every pet and pet owner, wherever they are. We're a tech-driven company at heart, and the engineering team plays a central role in how we deliver on that mission. If you're passionate about building reliable, high-quality software and want to do it in a place where your work genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.
The role
This is a role designed to grow with you. You'll start by supporting our product teams with hands-on QA work and grow into driving how we approach quality more broadly as you build experience.
You'll be joining a small, mixed team focused on enabling the product teams — which means real ownership and broad exposure across everything we do. While the team is small, you'll work closely with experienced engineers across our four product teams, so you'll have plenty of people to learn from and collaborate with as you take on bigger problems. We're in an exciting phase where the business continues to grow and scale internationally, while at the same time we're focused on maturing and hardening the technological foundation we've built. Our current focus is on operational excellence: strengthening our quality practices and ensuring our services are as robust and reliable as they can be. Alongside the day-to-day, we'd love for you to bring your own perspective — identifying gaps and proactively driving improvements.
Your responsibilities
Help maintain and improve the testing tooling, frameworks, and quality practices that allow our product teams to develop and ship their services with confidence
Contribute to our ongoing quality and reliability work, helping teams catch issues earlier and ship with confidence
Develop and improve our end-to-end test suites, as well as other quality-related automation tasks
Maintain and evolve our shared testing component library, internal QA tooling and test data infrastructure
Drive initiatives to improve our test coverage and quality foundation, enabling teams to better understand the health of their services
Proactively identify areas for improvement and take ownership of driving them forward
Take on hands-on QA work on behalf of the product teams, helping them put QA processes and frameworks in place
What success looks like
In your first months, you'll get hands-on with testing work across our product teams — both automated and manual. As you build more experience we'd expect you to start driving your own initiatives to evolve and improve our testing processes and frameworks.
The person we are looking for
We are looking for a junior QA Engineer who is curious, collaborative, and genuinely excited about taking ownership. You don't need to have all the answers on day one — what matters more is that you're motivated to learn, you spot things that could be better, and you do something about them. You're comfortable supporting engineers across different teams and enjoy being the person others can lean on for quality-related work. When you encounter a complex problem, you dig in, take ownership, and see it through to a solution.
Desired qualifications
Some hands-on experience with software testing, whether manual, automated, or both
Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar
Experience with or exposure to CI/CD pipelines and an understanding of how testing fits into them
Programming or scripting skills in a language such as TypeScript, Python, PHP or similar
Experience with or a keen interest in different types of testing, such as API testing, end-to-end testing or similar
A collaborative and communicative approach to working with engineers across teams
Fluency in English, written and spoken
What we offer
At FirstVet, you'll be joining a team that genuinely cares about what it's building and how it builds it. We value collaboration, trust, and giving people the space to do their best work. This role comes with real ownership from day one and plenty of room to grow. We offer a highly flexible, hybrid remote work environment — work from our Stockholm office or remotely, it's up to you. And of course, it goes without saying that an interest in animals is highly desirable. We're a pet-oriented organisation and it's not unusual to run into our office dogs or for a cat to join our Hangout calls!
